How to make a knight party for children
Children love heroic knights, damsels in distress and deadly dragon stories, so why not use this theme for your child's next birthday? Any boy will be delighted to dress up in a childs knight costume and any girl will love to be a princess. This is a very good combination in mixed gender birthday parties.
The invitation card can illustrate knights fighting dragons and monsters. What could be more appealing than a dragon-shaped invitation card? You can easily draw a dragon onto a green sheet of paper with a stencil. This looks especially nice if it is rolled up as a map. You can stick googly eyes and a red tongue on the dragon’s face. Make something simple as a tower and walls on the top edge of a piece of gray cardboard. Personalize the invitations, using nicknames such as "Kevin the Terrible" or "The lovely Maria". Use old-fashioned language when writing the invitation text.
For the damsels, take some pieces of construction paper and roll them into cones, cut and staple them all around, so that you get pointed hats. Attach a piece of tulle at the top and the hats are ready. A search in the boxes with old clothes may also be worthwhile. You can trim dresses for the girls from old petticoats and nightgowns.
Knight helmets for the boys are best made from old plastic balls. You can make two hats from a ball. The ball is cut in half and sprayed with silver paint. You may also spray silver paint on linen, which you attach to the helmet as neck protection. Anyone can make knight cloaks from red cloth (they can use old sheets). This should not be done in advance so that the children can also tinker their equipment and actively transform themselves at the party.
The castle of the Garlands party knights can be easily made. All you need is strings and paper of different colors. Cut out castle shapes from the colorful paper and attach them to long cords. Then, tie the cords across the room. Furthermore, various shapes can be cut out from colored construction paper and hung up across the room. These can be dragons, knights, helmets, horses, swords or even castle towers. The dining table should either be covered with a red tablecloth or, even better, an uncovered old-looking dark wood table can be used. You can place ducat gold (chocolate coins) on it. It would be great to also have golden cups and plates.
As for the food, you can serve chicken nuggets, patties and croquettes (as finger food). You should make sure that the knights have enough napkins during the “feast”. As for the drinks, you can try dragon's blood punch. You can let your imagination run wild. Cherry juice, strawberry juice, whatever – what is important is that the punch is red.
Play knight games at the party dressed in scary child Halloween costumes. Knights and ladies have to sit on their horses facing each other ready to spear as many suspended rings as possible with their lances. You can use tricycles or two adults as horses and broomsticks as lances. Another challenge for the knights is to plug the dragon's tail blindfolded! Paint the tailless back of a dragon on a large sheet of paper. Make the dragon's tail from fabric or green paper and attach a pushpin to it. The knight must attach the tail in the right place on the dragon's back blindfolded.
